There's nothing like listening to Herb Alpert while eating grapefruit over the sink.

Crystal's Folger

MacArthur Park, which is made entirely from General Douglas MacArthur

Today, I was given the opportunity to go onto the roof of the US Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles, which, at 1,018 feet, is the tallest building on the West Coast. As you can imagine, "they" don't just let anyone go up there. I'm not kidding. Try to go up there, and you'll see what happens.

Echo Park, which is not returning my phone calls

There are no guardrails up there (no joke), and I'm not exactly sure why I wasn't more terrified than I was. I guess it was because there was a lot to look at and there wasn't much wind. Before we'd gone up, I had visions of getting blown off by big gusts or a major earthquake cracking the building in half, leaving me flailing through space. Just thinking about it now is making me queasy. I really expected that I'd feel the building swaying or something, but I didn't notice anything like that at all. It was just like being on the ground except for a few occasional flashes of cold, crippling, fear-of-heights panic.

Please enjoy the fun pictures I took from up there, and a couple I took later.

That's City Hall in the background, perhaps ironically, but maybe not

Rococo Rickshaw

Here's some video of our performance the other night. The camera was held by a robot that exploded later in the evening.

The robot wore a shirt but no pants.

Left to Right: Me, David (Thanks, Amanda!)

Those of you that came to hear us on Saturday at the Unurban: Thanks! That was probably the best show we ever played, I think.

Me (Thanks, Amanda!)
